Heartland Community Showdown

Heartland Community Showdown

The Esports Club at Kansas State University, in conjunction with Midwest Esports, is proud to announce the second annual Heartland Community Showdown, sponsored by Koch Industries!  This event will be a held on March 2, 2019.  This event will be an intercollegiate tournament that will feature multiple esports titles, held at the Kansas State University Student Union in Manhattan, KS.

The tournament will feature events for 4 different games, listed below:

  • Overwatch
  • Counter Strike: Global Offensive
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee (Singles and Doubles Brackets)
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Singles and Doubles Brackets)

We will be streaming and broadcasting as many of the tournament matches as possible.  This includes having every Grand Final streamed live as well as having a spectator area.  So, if you have people back home cheering on your school, they will be able to witness the action as well.

Additional Info

Sleeping Arrangements: We will have a section of the Kansas State University Engineering Complex to accommodate us for the weekend.  We will have multiple sleeping rooms set up so that you don’t have to pay for a hotel if you don’t want to.  You will be responsible for bringing your own pillow, sleeping bag/mat, and blankets.  This is just one of the ways that we are looking to save you money so you can focus on having fun.  We will also have a room set aside exclusively for women.

Showers: We will have a deal set up with the Rec Center nearby that will allow for people to shower on March 2, so that they don’t have to go the entire weekend without cleaning up.  Of course, you would need to bring soap and shampoo, but the rest would be completely free.

Food: No information is currently available.  We will be sure to let you know what the status on meals are before you travel to Manhattan.
